START-UP AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
BIG 38/48
4.7. OPERATION
Washing is very intricate operation as it requires assessment of the proper brush to use, the right choice of
detergent and knowing whether or not a double cleaning action is required, all based on experience. To start the
washing operation, the brush motor switch and the suction switch must be turned on. When the washing
operation is completed, before completion of the drying, the water solenoid valve should be closed (see 4.7.5)
as this is independent from the forward travel pedal. If the floor is very dirty, a double cleaning action is
recommended: a first phase should be performed with the squeegee in the raised position and the brushes in
the working position; once the brushes have been started and the solenoid valve opened, a first run will be
carried out over an area of a few dozen square metres. The cleaning solution should remain on the floor to
dissolve the dirt with its solvent action until it is collected during the second run. Obviously, the second cleaning
action must be performed with the brushes lowered, the solenoid valve open and the squeegee in contact with
the floor (suction switch activated).
Before performing any operation, check that the guards are in position and properly
secured.
4.7.1 STARTING AND PREPARING THE MACHINE
Load the water through the cap on top of the solution tank (detail 1 figure 4.7).
The machine can now be started by turning the key switch, with the operator in the driving seat, and operating
the accelerator pedal to ensure that all the machine functions are working.
4.7.2 CHOICE OF DETERGENT
Choosing the right detergent is very important for efficient floor cleaning. A detergent that is too harsh could be
harmful. A non-foaming detergent or an anti-foaming additive should be used to avoid damage to the suction
motor. If these products are not available, common wine vinegar can be used, pouring 50 cc of it into the
recovery tank before starting the cleaning cycle.
Make sure that the detergent used is suitable for the type of surface to be cleaned.
FIORENTINI S.p.A. is not responsible for damages caused by detergents that are
excessively harsh or not suitable for the surface being cleaned.
