12.2 Checklist before starting fans
The checks listed below are necessary, but could be insufficient in environments with particular types of risk.

Identify installation type in accordance with paragraph 3.1.

Check compatibility of fan with type of application.

Check that the fan and motor identification plate data are compatible with the
data on the transmission information card (if present).

Check the compatibility of the electrical data of the motor identification plate with
the electrical power supply (frequency, voltage, connections); for further checks
consult the motor instruction manual.

Check the efficiency of any power switch installed for the electrical power supply
to the motor and any auxiliary circuits (e.g. heaters).

Check for absence of foreign bodies inside fan.
OK
Check for presence of all nuts, bolts and other fasteners envisaged.

Check tightness of nuts and bolts in accordance with Chart 12-1
(impeller, supports, foundations, transmission if present).

Check for the efficiency of interblock on access door to room or on safety
barriers (if necessary).

Check lubrication conditions of bearings (including motor bearings if these can
be lubricated)

Check alignment of flexible coupling (if present). See paragraph 8.5.

Check that all rotating parts can turn freely.

Check directions of fan rotation and fluid flow.
