To accommodate string geometry and eliminate buzzing from the
stringshittingthefretsduringvibration,everyguitarneckhas“relief”
—theamountofcurvaturerequiredforthestringstovibratefreely.
Neck relief can change as wood shrinks or swells, moving in response
to seasonal changes in relative humidity. To counteract this movement
yourParamountacousticguitarcontainsadual-actiontrussrod—the
trussrodnutislocatedattheheeloftheneck,insidetheguitar’sbody.
ADJUSTING THE TRUSS ROD |
1. Locate the truss rod nut 2. Using the supplied
4mmheadhexwrench,slowlyturnthenutaneighthtoaquarterofaturn
3.Turnthenutasindicatedintheillustrationsabove(Note:Inthe“neutral”
position the truss rod will feel loose, as there is no pressure against the neck.
Onceturnedpastthispositionyoushouldfeelthetrussrod“tightenup”
again.)
4.Afterturningthetrussrodlettheneck“settlein”tothenewposition
forabout10minutes
5. Retune the instrument to standard pitch (if required)
and check the relief again; adjust the truss rod further if necessary
NOTE: It is possible to damage the truss rod by stripping the nut, or by over tightening the truss
rod, resulting in damage. If you don’t feel comfortable adjusting the truss rod yourself, please
take your instrument to your nearest Fender Authorized Service Center.
