14
shears (see FELCO 882-NP user guide, section “OPERATING
ALARMS”).
NOTES
•
If cutting is no longer clean and effortless, that means that
the pruning shears are consuming more power than
required. Check the sharpness of the blade 14, the
adjustment of the blade and counter blade crossing and
the general condition of the pruning shears 12. If the
problem persists, please contact your reseller.

SHARPENING
This operation is crucial, as it determines the cut quality and the life
of the blade 14, mechanical parts and the life of the battery 06a or
06b. Sharpening frequency depends on the wood to cut (hardness
and diameter), the cutting speed and the quality of the sharpening
tool (FELCO 903 recommended). That is why, in the early days of
use, it is important to regularly check the sharpness of the blade 14
and to sharpen it whenever necessary (checking every hour will
soon give you an idea of that frequency). With intensive pruning,
daily sharpening is recommended throughout the cutting season.
CAUTION
The blade must be sharpened for the first time after the first half
hour of use. For the sharpening procedure, please refer to the
procedure B on page 4 of this user guide. At the same time, check
the gap between the blade 14 and the counter blade 15 and adjust
it according to the instructions “ADJUSTING THE BLADE AND
COUNTER BLADE”.
ADJUSTING THE BLADE AND COUNTER BLADE
For clean and precise cutting, regularly adjust the gap between the
blade 14 and the counter blade 15 as indicated in the procedure C
on pages 4 of this user guide.
ADJUSTING THE BLADE AND COUNTER BLADE CROSSING
If the blade 14 is regularly sharpened, you may need to repeat the
blade crossing adjustment.
To do so, just press the trigger 13 twice quickly and keep it pressed
in. You will hear series of three beeps. Count four of them. At the
end of the fourth one, the blade 14 will move forward in steps (three
adjustment positions). When the passing is as required (the
blade 14 must clearly overlap the counter blade 15), release the
trigger 13 and the tool will save the passing position. This
adjustment is only required if the blade 14 no longer adequately
passes the counter blade 15.
REPLACING THE BLADE
When it becomes impossible to adjust the passing of the blade 14
and the counter blade 15, the blade 14 should be changed. To do
so, please refer to the procedure D on page 5 of this user guide.
During that operation, please check the wear of the bolt 18 and
replace it if required.
CAUTION
Never operate the pruning shears 12 without a blade. This could
damage the tool and lead to injury. It is imperative to disconnect the
pruning shears 12 from the cord 02 before you do so.
REPLACING THE COUNTER BLADE
When the blade 14 has been replaced several times, and cutting is
not as clean even after precise adjustment of the gap between the
blade 14 and the counter blade 15, the counter blade 15 should be
replaced.
To do so, please refer to the procedure E on page 6 of this user
guide.
CAUTION
Never operate the pruning shears 12 without a counter blade. That
could damage the tool and lead to injury. It is imperative to
disconnect the pruning shears 12 from the cord 02 before you do
so.
SEMI-OPEN MODE
The user can set the blade to the semi-open mode at any time. That
can be useful while cutting branches of small diameters
To enable the semi-open mode, just press the trigger 13 twice very
quickly and release it immediately. The blade will be positioned
midway to the fully open position. To go back to the fully open mode,
just press the trigger 13 twice very quickly and the blade will go back
to normal opening mode. That mode can be disabled permanently
via the FELCO application (download from the App Store or Google
Play). To do so, please refer to the FELCO 882-NP user guide. The
semi-open option is enabled and pre-set at the factory, but can be
modified or turned off as required using the FELCO application.
HOLSTER MODE OF THE PRUNING SHEARS
The holster mode of the pruning shears enables you to keep the
blade closed without using the switch 05. To enable that mode, just
press the trigger 13 twice quickly, and keep it pressed in till you hear
a series of 3 quick beeps. Then you can release the trigger 13 and
the blade 14 will no longer open. To reopen the blade 14, you only
have to press the trigger 13 once.
CAUTION
This does not amount to switching off the tool, but just helps you
store the tool in its holster. Be careful and pay attention, because a
movement of the trigger 13 will open the blade 14.
This mode can be permanently disabled using the FELCO
application (download from the App Store or Google Play). To do
so, please refer to the FELCO 882-NP user guide. The holster
option is enabled and pre-set at the factory, but can be modified or
turned off as required using the FELCO application.
MISCELLANEOUS MAINTENANCE
•
Clean the cutting head regularly with a cleaner and
lubricant that offers protection from corrosion (e.g.
FELCO 980 spray). In particular, remove any build-up of
sap on the blade 14 and counter blade 15.
•
Regularly clean the tool body with a moist cloth.
•
Grease daily the grease tank of the counter blade 15 by
applying grease using the grease pump FELCO 991, on
the grease bolt head 18.
•
Do not leave pruning shears 12 on the ground or exposed
to the weather.
