Maintenance
EXPLOSION HAZARD: To prevent the ignition of
hazardous atmospheres, disconnect the fixture from the
supply circuit before opening it. Keep the unit tightly
closed when in operation.
SAFETY MESSAGES TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
Listed below are some important safety instructions and
precautions you should follow:
•
Read and understand all instructions before
operating this system.
•
This equipment is suitable for use in Class I, Division
2, Groups A, B, C, D or non-hazardous locations only.
•
WARNING – Explosion Hazard – Substitution of
any components may impair suitability for Class I,
Division 2.
•
WARNING – Explosion Hazard – Do not disconnect
equipment unless power has been switched off or
the area is known to be non-hazardous.
•
WARNING – Explosion Hazard – Do not remove
or disconnect the lamp unless power has been
disconnected or the area is known to be free of
ignitable concentrations of flammable gas or
vapors.
•
Any maintenance to the light system must be done
with the power turned off.
•
Any maintenance to the light system must be
performed by a trained electrician in accordance
with all applicable national and local codes and
standards in the country of use.
•
Never alter the unit in any manner. Safety in
hazardous locations may be endangered if additional
openings or other alterations are made in units
specifically designed for use in these locations.
•
The nameplate, which may contain cautionary or
other information of importance to maintenance
personnel, should not be obscured if exterior of
housings used in hazardous locations are painted.
•
The only electrical component to be replaced by the
customer is the lamp.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions
may result in property damage, serious injury, or death to
you or others.
Replacing the Lamp
To change the lamp:
1.
Disconnect the power.
2.
Remove the screw located at the bottom of the
dome.
3.
Grasp the top of the dome and push down while
turning the dome counterclockwise approximately
3/4" (19 mm). A strap wrench may be used to
remove dome if required.
4.
Gently lift the dome away. Ensure that the gasket
between the dome and base is not lost.
5.
Replace the lamp with the appropriate Federal
Signal lamp. See Table 1.
6.
Before replacing the dome, ensure that the gasket
is properly seated. Place the dome over the base,
aligning the recesses inside the dome lip with the
four pins on the base. Push down on the dome and
turn clockwise until it locks in place (approximately
3/4", 19 mm).
7.
Replace the screw into the bottom of the dome.
NOTE:
The LED lamp is a suitable replacement for older,
incandescent models.
Cleaning the Reflector
Remove and replace dome in accordance with
instructions in paragraph III.A. To clean the reflector, use a
soft cloth and any liquid household cleaner. DO NOT USE
abrasive cleaners.
Lubrication
The Motor-Gear Reducer Assembly is a sealed unit.
Therefore, no lubrication is required.
