Scan Optimization
This adjusts all frames of a scan to minimize displacements errors. The function searches for loops in the
scan and tries to close those loops. Loop closing is necessary because small errors from frame to frame
may accumulate over time, resulting in gaps if you return to the same position again. The
Extended
setting may give better results, but will take longer.
Stray Point Filtering
Removes stray points, creating a cleaner overall look. Select
Standard
to remove stray points without
additional 3D smoothing. This setting tends to make edges and corners look better. Select
Smooth
to add
additional 3D smoothing. This setting tends to make planes look better.
Color Optimization
Averages the color of scan points in overlapping areas within the selected scan, and adjusts color effects
caused by different lighting situations.
Delete Raw Data
Deletes the raw scan data and the project history after processing is complete. Select this option if you
want to save space and reduce project size, but only if you are sure that you never want to process the
scan again
NOTE:
The
Delete raw data
feature is meant to be used after a scan project is finalized. Do not use it
during the process because of the following reasons:
The scan project history is deleted. All information about the history of a project will be lost.
You will no longer be able to revert the project to a previous revision afterwards.
The camera files are deleted. It is not longer possible to process the scan project.
Exporting Point Clouds
The point cloud export functionality provides an export of a scan in the XYZ or E57 file format. The
XYZ file format also includes normals, which may be helpful for meshing approaches.
1. Make sure that a USB flash drive is inserted in one of the USB ports of the Mobile PC.
2. Select the scan from which you want to export the point cloud.
3. Select
Export.
4. Choose the file format.
