3.3 Tuning
By pressing the "TUNING" button, you switch to Tuning mode, and
can make several settings to adjust the SPEEDSTER
®
3 to the
game or to your own driving style.
The settings are displayed in the two-character LED Display.
Menu navigation and setting changes:
1. Press "TUNING"
2. Choose the required function using the
Directional buttons "LEFT" and "RIGHT"
3. To change the setting, press the
Directional buttons "UP" and "DOWN"
4. Press "TUNING" to exit Tuning mode
The settings are deleted as soon as the console is turned off or
the steering wheel is unplugged.
3.3.1 Dead Zone
Possible settings: +3 to –9
The dead zone is the area around the central position of the
steering wheel within which a movement does not trigger a
reactionfrom the car in the game. This area can be extended, or
completely eliminated if you want every steering wheel movement
to immediately result in a reaction by the car.
3.3.2 Sensitivity
Possible settings: +3 to –3
This function determines the degree to which the car reacts to a
steering wheel movement in the game. With a setting of +3, even
a slight movement will cause the car to turn sharply. At –3, you
have to turn the steering wheel right round to achieve the same
turn.
3.3.3 Tracking Control
Possible settings: on / off
The Tracking Control System stops the car swerving in a bend.
It does this by transmitting the steering mean value (zero
position) at certain intervals when you turn the wheel. This has the
same effect as moving either the left or right analog stick of the
analog controller (DUALSHOCK
®
2) quickly back and forth.
3.3.4 Vibration Effect (Actuator)
Possible settings: 0, 1, 2, 3
You can configure the degree of vibration of the two motors
(Actuators).
0 = off; 1 = 50%; 2 = 100%; 3 = 200%
3.3.5 Programming
Different functions can be assigned to the horn button in the
middle of the steering wheel and the two gear levers.
Press the button that you want to change (for example, horn
button). Then press the required function (for example, key
"R2 button"). You can then reassign the function of the next
button, or exit programming mode.
The function of the pedals can also be changed. Some games can
be controlled with a greater degree of precision if the right
analog stick of the Analog Controller (DUALSHOCK
®
) or Analog
Controller (DUALSHOCK
®
2) is used for acceleration and braking.
In programming mode, press the accelerator pedal and then
the horn button. The accelerator pedal now has the function
