LAUNCHING AT THE EDGE OF THE WINDOW
Place the kite and the lines according to the wind direction.
•
Check that there is no line above yours and that your way is clear.
•
Always take time to check that your lines are not crossed. Even if you are certain you have attached
your lines properly, this check is necessary!
•
Check that all connectors are in good condition and not worn out.
•
Check that you are connected to your kite leash.
•
Check that your safety release system works correctly and that it is connected to your harness.
•
Check that your launch area is still clear on both sides and downwind from where you are.
• Unrolling the lines.
Unroll your lines in front of your kite along the alignment of the bridle. You have to have the red
line on the left and the other color line to the right when you are facing the kite. Untangle your lines
whilst walking towards the kite. Lay down your front lines in the centre, with your back lines to the
left & right.
• Connect the lines.
To identify your lines:
- The ends of the front lines have the loop for making the lark’s head knot.
- The ends of the back lines have the knot for making the lark’s head knot.
•
Connect the front lines to the front connectors of the bridle. Make a lark’s head knot with the connec-
tors of the front lines.
•
Connect your back lines to the back connectors of the kite. You cannot cross them: the left back line
must be connected to the left back connector and the right back line to the right back connector.
Make a lark’s head knot with the connectors of the back lines (see the lark’s head knot part). Check
that your back lines and your front lines do not cross.
You must launch your kite at the edge of the window. This means that the wind must come towards
you with an angle. Pull on the back line of the opposite side (inside the wind window) to inflate the
kite gradually.
