4.Automatic Operation

This section describes the operation while referring
to the case of using the manifold.
1) With the “Auto” lamp of control panel ON, press
the “Run/Stop” key of refrigerator. The
“Refrigerator” lamp goes ON and the refrigerator
starts operation.
2) When the trap temperature reaches -30
℃
, the
“Vacuum pump” lamp goes ON and the set vacuum
pump is activated automatically. When the vacuum
reaches 533 Pa or les, the display changes from
“Atmo” to “Measured value.”

When the trap temperature decreases below the
specified value, the vacuum pump is activated
automatically. Make sure that the cock has been
closed beforehand without fail before setting the
sample. The cock is in the closed state when the

facing upward.
3) When the trap temperature reaches -40
℃
and the
vacuum reaches 15Pa or below, the freeze-drying
ready lamp “Freeze Drying” goes ON, informing
that the sample can be installed.
4) Install the preliminarily-frozen sample container to
the adapter and turn the vacuum cock from

to
【
Vac.
】
. The sample container opens
to the trap.
※
Do not install all of vacuum containers at a time.
Instead, install one container at a time and, each
time, confirm that the vacuum is 20 Pa or less.
※
When the sample is molten, carry out preliminary
freezing again before installation.
※
As drying proceeds, frost adhering to the sample
container surface is thawed. Dewing occurs also on
the cover of trap. Wipe off such dew with wastes,
etc.
After installation of the sample container, the
freeze-drying ready display, Freeze Drying lamp,
goes ON when the trap temperature is -30
℃
or
below and the vacuum is 20 Pa or less.
In this state, the next sample container can be
installed.

When the trap temperature rises beyond -30
℃
and
the vacuum exceeds 30 Pa, the freeze-drying ready
display, Freeze drying lamp, goes OFF. The lamp
remains OFF till the trap temperature returns to -
30
℃
or less and the vacuum is 30Pa or less.
※
If frost that looks like granulated sugar adheres
in the trap bath in the course of freeze drying,
vacuum is likely. Check the connection
between the sample container and adapter.
Caution
The dehumidification capacity of the product
is 150 mL. Dehumidification of the sample amount
exceeding the capacity may cause failure of the
vacuum pump or system.
Take utmost care for the amount of
dry sample
After installation of the sample container,
the degree of vacuum rises gradually, with
frosting occurs on the cooling section in the trap.
White frosting on the surface of sample container
indicates the satisfactory drying process.
