Application 

6.1

 

Measuring Function 

The use of Gas Detection Systems for explosion and health protection requires special care. 
Besides qualified support of ExTox and the detailed information in the Instruction Manuals 

as well as Technical Data Sheets (

)

DB) there are several guides to assist you for the safe 

use and operation of Gas Detection Systems. These guides deal with the selection, installa-

tion, initial operation and regular maintenance.  
Furthermore there could be national regulations. In Germany there are for example the 
guidelines of the Berufsgenossenschaften BGI 518 and BGI 836 obligatory for certain appli-

cations.

Use in combination with hazardous Areas 

The Control Unit itself may not be installed in hazardous areas, but it is allowed to use the 
control unit in combination with explosion protected transmitters. Please note the corre-

sponding installation hints for each individual transmitter.  
All types of control units can be used in combination with hazardous areas of Zone 2.  
Please pay attention to the remarks regarding configuration of the control unit and its func-
tion in the safety system when using the detection system in combination with hazardous 
areas.
