III. Connection and
installation of the lamp
•
ATTENTION
y
Carefully read the entire user‘s manual before first use
and keep it with the product so that the user can become
acquainted with it. If you lend or sell the product to some-
body, include this user‘s manual with it. Prevent this user‘s
manual from being damaged. The manufacturer takes no
responsibility for damages or injuries arising from use of
the device that is in contradiction to this user‘s manual.
Acquaint yourself with all the control elements and parts
of the lamp before using it. Check that all parts are firmly
attached before use, also check that no part of the lamp
is damaged, namely the protective front cover and the
insulation on the power cord. A degraded power cord is
also considered to constitute damage. Do not use a lamp
with damaged parts and have it repaired at an authorised
service centre for the Extol® brand.
CONNECTION
•
WARNING
y
For safety reasons, according to the current stan-
dards EN 50110-1, IEC 60050-195 and EN 50110-2
and EN 61140 the connection may only be perfor-
med by a person with appropriate professional
electrical qualifications ( i.e. „person skilled in
electrical installations“). If you do not have such
qualifications, have the appliance connected by
a professional. The manufacturer is not respon-
sible for damages or injuries arising from the
unprofessional connection of the floodlight to an
el. power source or for damages resulting from
a connection of the floodlight to an el. power
source not protected against water because the IP
protection marking does not apply to the connec-
tion of the floodlight to an el. power source!
y
The lamp can be connected to a voltage in the
range specified in the chapter with the technical
specifications. Prior to connecting the lamp, check
that the above specified voltage is in the grid.
y
The lamp must be connected to a power socket
with its circuit protected by a residual current
device (RCD) with a breaking current of 30 mA.
y
If the connection (power cord) of the lamp is repaired
in any way with respect to the specific connection
requirements, all modifications and connections must
be performed by a person with electrical qualifications
(i.e. a knowledgeable person) according to current
norms EN 50110-1, IEC 60050-195 and EN 50110-2 and
EN 61140. In the event of any modifications to the
power cord leading to the lamp and its connection, the
manufacturer cannot bear any responsibility for non-
-professional work. Tampering with the inner electrical
installation of the lamp is not permitted.
•
ATTENTION
y
The connection of the lamp to the el. power source
must be permanently protected against the entry
of water, high moisture or snowfall or thermal and
mechanical damage. The IP 65 protection level of the
lamp does not apply to the lamp‘s connection to the
power source when the same level of protection is not
provided!
y
Do not locate the lamp on a flammable surface. The
lamp must not be used in an environment where there
is a risk of fire or explosion.
y
Always use the lamp with an undamaged pro-
tective front cover that prevents damage to the
LED diodes and its exposure to humidity/water
and dust. In the event that the lamp is damaged,
immediately turn off the power source, disco-
nnect it and replace it with an undamaged unit.
MOUNTING THE LAMP
y
Mount the lamp at a height of 1-3 m above the ground.
The direct distance of the lamp from the illuminated
object should be at least 0.5 m (Fig. 2). When the lamp
is mounted in a corner then it must be at least 20 cm
away from the ceiling (Fig. 3).

y
On the lamp with the motion switching sensor, the lamp
will light up depending on the motion at dusk and at night.
The switching detection distance and the lighting time are
factory set and it is not permitted for the user to adjust this.
y
For safety reasons, do not cover the lamp during operation;
circulation of ambient air must be provided for. Likewise,
do not install or operate the lamp in a confined small area
with an insufficient volume and circulation of air.
•
ATTENTION
y
Protect the power cord of the lamp against thermal and
mechanical damage. In the event of damage, immedia-
tely turn off the lamp, disengage the voltage in the grid
and organise a repair at an authorised service centre for
the Extol® brand.
y
The lamp has a non-replaceable light source, which
when not mechanically damaged has a lifespan of more
than 30,000 hours and thus under normal circumstan-
ces it is not necessary to remove the lamp‘s front cover.
IV. Cleaning,
maintenance, repairs
y
In the event that the lamp requires cleaning, first
unplug it from the el. power supply and allow it to cool
down. Do not use abrasive cleaning products and orga-
nic solvents to clean the lamp as this would damage it.
y
Service adjustment or installation of the lamp must be
performed with the power supply disconnected.
y
In the event that the power cord itself is damaged,
have it replaced at an authorised service centre for the
Extol® brand.
y
It is not possible to use the lamp with a damaged pro-
tective front cover. In the event of its damage, the lamp
must be replaced with a new one. The design of the
lamp does not enable the replacement of the cover for
a new one. In the event that the front cover, the body
or the power cord of the lamp is damaged, it will no
longer be deemed safe, or provide protection against
the entry of water and dust. Do not use a lamp with
damaged parts, and replace it with a new one.
y
For warranty repairs, please contact the vendor from
whom you purchased the product and they will organi-
se repairs at an authorised service centre for the Extol®
brand. For a post warranty repair, please contact the
authorised service centre of the Extol® brand directly
(you will find the repair locations at the website at the
start of this user‘s manual).
