Step 2
Positioning the control panel in the room.
Position the control panel where you wish to fit it.
Do not fix the panel in place until you have a signal.
NB
The distance between the power unit and the control panel can be as much as 12
metres, depending on the model in question. Storey partition with reinforced concrete
floors, steel rails, etc., will reduce this range. In buildings with a steel roof it might proof
necessary to locate the power unit under the roof, as the steel sheet metal reflects the
radio signal and can prevent a connection.
• Insert the two C batteries into the unit.
• The units are now linked up.
• Use the ON/OFF switch to activate the control panel.
• If the message “No signal” appears at intervals in the display, there is no
connection between the units. If so, try moving the control panel around the
room until this text is replaced by an operational display.
No connection
If you cannot establish a signal between the units, you will need to fit a repeater unit.
See step 3.
NB
Communication test
For the greatest range, ensure that the units are positioned correctly in relation to each
other and make sure there are as few obstacles as possible between them (drawings 3,
8 and 9). The arrows in drawings 8 and 9 show the transmission strength of the units in
various directions. Materials that can prevent a good connection between transmitter
and receiver include sheet metal and multiple walls.
It may be necessary to adjust the positioning of the units in relation to each other in
buildings with poor transmission or reception conditions. (Adjustments of as little as
10–20 cm can influence the signal on account of reflections in the room).
Step 3
Repeater (accessory)
• Connect the repeater to a plug socket close to the control panel.
• Press the OK button on the control panel and hold it down for at least 3 sec.
(to enter the set-up menu).
• Go to menu 5 (Network) and press “OK” on the control panel. Go to menu 51 (add
Node) and press “OK”. The text in the display now reads “Press button on Node”.
Press button A to change the display to ‘Yes’ and press ‘OK’.
• Now press the Connect button on the repeater (B) and hold it down for 3 sec.
(drawing 7). The display now reads “Node included”. Press “OK” (B) (drawing 10).
• Then go to menu 53 (Signal test) and press “OK”. The display now shows flashing
dotted lines.
Now position the repeater exactly where you want to fit it – on the ceiling, for exam-
ple – between the control panel and the power unit.
• Press the Connect button (B) on the repeater (drawing 7) to check the signal
strength.
• The send and receive diodes (A and C) will light up if the communication signal is
good (drawing 7). The “Receive diode” indicates that the repeater has linked up
with the control panel and the “Send diode” shows that communication has been
established with the power unit.
• If necessary, move the repeater around until communication has been established
between all three units (both diodes must be illuminated on completion of the test).
• End the signal test by pushing "OK". The display will show a running dot indicating
that the network is now being checked. The result of the test must show OK. If not
the communication has failed, and the test must be repeated.
• Fit the cover to the repeater.
• Fit the control panel as described in step 4 (drawing 11).
• The confirmation time may be delayed approx. 1 second, when repeater is used.
This is due to increased communication.
