5.10 TIG welding
5.10.1 Welding torch and workpiece line connection
CAUTION
Equipment damage due to improperly connected coolant pipes!
If the coolant pipes are not properly connected or a gas-cooled welding torch is used,
the coolant circuit is interrupted and equipment damage can occur.
• Connect all coolant pipes correctly!
• Completely unroll the hose package and the torch hose package!
• Observe maximal hose package length - See 5.6 Welding torch cooling system chapter.
• When using a gas-cooled welding torch, use a hose bridge to establish the coolant circuit -
See 9 Accessories chapter.
The TIG welding torch is to be equipped to suit the relevant welding task!
• Fit suitable tungsten electrodes and
• an appropriate shielding gas nozzle.
• Observe the operating instructions for the TIG welding torch!
Prepare the welding torch according to the welding task
(see operating instructions for the torch). Unscrew any adapters from the shielding gas
connection (used in plasma welding).
When using the gas metering unit (GMU), the shielding gas connection is created on the output 1
connection (G 1/4", right) on the GMU.
The gas valves on the plasma and shielding gas supply are always opened at the same time.
Pressure reducers on the plasma gas supply close to prevent unnecessary plasma gas being
released during TIG welding.
