Installing System Memory (DIMMs)
Your Z790 CLASSIFIED has four (4) 288-pin
DDR5 memory slots, and supports:
Dual-channel non-ECC DDR5 memory.
Up to 32GB per DIMMs.
Up to (OC) speeds.
At least one memory slot must be populated for
the board to boot and operate.
Use the following procedure to
install your memory:
1.
Press both module clips
outward to unlock a DIMM
slot.
2.
Align the memory module to the DIMM slot and gap spacing, then insert
the DIMM into the slot by pressing straight down.
3.
The plastic clips on each end of the DIMM slot should automatically lock
the DIMM into the connector. If not, carefully snap the clips into place on
each side of the DIMM.
Note:
On a DDR5 motherboard with two-DIMMs installed, the memory controller on
most Raptor Lake-S / Alder Lake-S CPUs is officially supported up to a
frequency of 5600MHz and 4800MHz, respectively, depending on the
memory configuration
. Achieving memory speeds above the CPU’s default
speed may require manual setting of the memory timings, frequency and
voltages and/or overclocking of the CPU.
Refer to the memory manufacturer specifications for the recommended
memory timings. Overclocking support may be found on our community
forums:
Installing the I/O Shield
Your motherboard is pre-installed with an I/O shield, which is used to prevent
dust and foreign objects from coming into contact with internal components.
Ensure that the I/O shield remains on the inside of the chassis while you are
fastening the motherboard to the case.
