The time and date is set automatically using an integrated DCF receiver.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and

notes on Primary and secondary batteries

Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.

Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk of
them being swallowed by children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor
immediately.

Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin
can cause acid burns; therefore, use suitable safety gloves.

Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown
into fire. There is a risk of explosion!

Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; risk of explosion! Only re-
charge rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable
battery charger.

Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable bat-
teries (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).

inserting and rePlacing batteries or
rechargeable batteries

Open the battery compartment (9) on the rear of the case and insert two batter-
ies of type AAA/Micro with the correct polarity.

The correct polarity is shown in the battery compartment.

After inserting the batteries, the DCF symbol (6) starts to flash in the display.
The radio-controlled alarm clock now attempts to receive a DCF signal (see also
the chapter "DCF reception").

Close the battery compartment (9).
-
The batteries need to be changed if the display contrast diminishes or the dis-
play no longer functions.
Use of rechargeable batteries is possible. However, the lower operating volt-
age (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V, battery 1.5 V) and lower capacity will re-
duce the operating time.
dcF recePtion

After inserting the batteries the clock searches automatically for the DCF signal.
This is indicated by a flashing DCF symbol (6) on the display.

Normally, the synchronisation process is completed within no more than ten min-
utes.
-
As soon as the DCF signal is decoded, an unflickering DCF symbol (6) appears
and the current time and date are shown in the display.

During summer time, DTS (Daylight Saving Time) will be shown additionally on
the display.
The detection of the DCF signal and its analysis lasts a few minutes. Do not
move the radio-controlled alarm clock during this time. Do not press any
buttons or switches!
Bad reception can be caused e.g., by metallised insulated glass, reinforced
concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic de-
vices, or installation in basements.
If the current time is not displayed yet in 10 minutes, change the installation
site of the radio-controlled alarm clock and undertake a manual reception
attempt (see "Manual DCF reception attempt procedure").
