6. Function
Series LCA devices consist of a transmitter (T) and receiver (R). The transmitter sends infrared light beams to the receiver.
These beams form a protective field for monitoring dangerous areas.
If at least one light beam in the protective field is interrupted, the safety outputs on the receiver shut down.
The size of the protective field is dependent on the range and the height of the protective field.

The resolution of the device determines the size an object must have so that at least one light beam is interrupted.
The resolution is calculated using the following formula:
