Pin assignment
The 1-Wire Temperature Sensor Pro is supplied with screw terminals. The pin assignment is printed on
the printed circuit board.
In normal mode the sensor must be supplied with three cables, ground, 1-Wire Data and 5V.
In parasitic mode the sensor is only connected with ground and 1-Wire Data. Additionally, a connection
between 5V and ground must be established at the sensor.
Note: Basics and further information referring to the 1-Wire Bus system can be found in our eBook,
available for purchase in our webshop

Assembly
The location of the assembly must be protected against humidity. The device may be used only in dry
inside spaces and protected outside areas. Ensure that the installation is free of draughts. The device
is designed to be assembled as a fixed device within a switchboard.

1-Wire Network
No special requirements are needed on the cable used for short connection lengths. With unshielded cable, a
wider connection length can be achieved in an undisturbed environment, as the capacitive bus load is lower. A
total length of 60 m and more can be easily achieved with no additional measures.
In a disturbed environment, the cable should be shielded in order to improve the system
’s sensitivity to
interference. The higher capacitive load reduces the maximum possible connection length.
The special thing about the wiring of the sensors is the
“BUS technology”: All sensors are operated in parallel on
a three-core cable, which is used for both power supply and data communication.
12
Measuring accuracy
The sensors are calibrated during manufacture and have a typical measurement accuracy of ±0.5°
at 23°C operating temperature. The accuracy is reduced in addition to the upper and lower measuring
range limits. Further information can be found in the DS18B20 data sheet on our website.
13
Operating conditions
The sensor is designed to measure the temperature of gases. The Maxim temperature sensors are
semiconductor sensors. The unhoused sensors are designed for temperature measurements in the range of
-55 ... +125 °C. These temperature values stated under technical data are limit data for the entire
1-Wire Temperature Sensor Pro and must not be exceeded, otherwise the sensor may be damaged.

Disposal note
Do not dispose of the device in household waste! Electronic devices must be disposed of in
accordance with the directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment via the local
collection points for waste electronic equipment!

Safety instructions
When using products that come into contact with electrical voltage, the valid VDE regulations must be
observed, especially VDE 0100, VDE 0550/0551, VDE 0700, VDE 0711 and VDE 0860
All final or wiring work must be carried out with the power turned off.
Before opening the device, always unplug or make sure that the unit is disconnected from the mains.
Components, modules or devices may only be put into service if they are mounted in a contact proof housing.
During installation they must not have power applied.
Tools may only be used on devices, components or assemblies when it is certain that the devices are disconnected
from the power supply and electrical charges stored in the components inside the device have been discharged.
Live cables or wires to which the device or an assembly is connected, must always be tested for insulation faults or
breaks.
If an error is detected in the supply line, the device must be immediately taken out of operation until the faulty cable
has been replaced.
