Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Remedy
A - Optical system
Image too bright or too dark.
Brightness setting incorrect. Control the object illumination
using both dimmer controllers.
Image shows soiling.
Object is soiled. Clean the object.
Eyepiece is soiled. Clean the eyepiece.
Lens is soiled. Clean the lens.
Microscopic slide disc
is soiled.
Clean the microscopic
slide disc.
Double images appear.
Inter-pupillary distance is
not correctly adjusted.
Correct the setting.
Dioptric adjuster is
not correctly adjusted.
Correct the setting.
Varying magnification in
both eyepieces.
Use the right and left eyepieces
set to the same level
of magnification.
Image distorted during
focusing.
Dioptric adjuster is not correctly
adjusted.
Correct the dioptric setting.
Focus is not correctly adjusted. Correct the focus setting.
B - Electrical system
Device switched on,
but no light.
The device is not connected to
the mains.
Connect the device to
the mains.
Lamps defective. Have the lamps replaced.
Fuse defective. Replace the fuse.
Lighting flickers,
appears unstable.
Lamps will soon malfunction. Replace the lamps.
Lamps not correctly engaged. Correct the position of the
lamps.
C - Focusing
Focusing arm is stiff during
operation.
Mobility of the focusing arm
adjusted to too heavy a setting.
Turn control knobs for height
adjustment anti-clockwise.
Focal point changes
spontaneously.
Mobility of the focusing arm
adjusted to too light a setting.
Turn control knobs for height
adjustment clockwise.
