queueing
- the process that occurs when all channels in
a trunked system are busy and calls must be
addressed on a priority basis.
site controller
- the computer controlled radio equipment at the
repeater site that controls a trunking system.
system (area)
- the terms ’system" and "area" are used inter-
changeably to refer to the particular group of
station repeaters currently providing service to
the radio.
system manager
- a computer that performs the data basing and
system monitoring for the site controller.
system scan
- a programmed feature to scan (monitor activity
on) separate trunked systems and receive
calls on any of these systems. (Trunked Mode
Only).
talk-around mode
- also referred to as "direct mode", talk-around
provides a direct unit-to-unit short range com-
munications link. It is intended to maintain
communications outside of the main system
coverage area.
telephone
interconnect
- this feature allows the user to initiate or receive
telephone calls through the radio if the system
is con figured for this operation. (Trunked Mode
Only).
trunked group
- a radio communications path shared by two or
more users.
trunked operation
- a set of radio frequency channels used by
multiple users. By using high speed digital data
