PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

2.2.8 A/D Converter Circuit

Figure 2-56 shows the A/D converter circuit. The functions of this converter are as follows:

 Monitors the +24 V line to determine the drive pulse width for the printhead.
 Monitors the temperature (the resistance value) of the printhead.
 Reads the initial DIP switch settings.
 Reads the set value of the bidirectional adjustment.

Using shunt regulator TL431CLPB, R37, and R55, reference voltage

NOTE: 

2.5 V is the shunt regulator reference voltage.

Using this value as a reference, the + 24 V line is monitored by ANO, the head temperature is monitored by

ANl, and DIP switches and bidirectional adjustment are read using AN2 through AN7.
