Configuration options
Your AV.io 4K device is ready t o use right out of t he box; however, t here is support f or addit ional
conf igurat ion should you need it .
Firmware updat es and changes t o def ault capt ure set t ings can be applied t o your AV.io 4K using Epiphan’s
AV.io Conf ig t ool.

The AV.io Conf ig t ool allows you t o change several set t ings t o make changes t o your video capt ure experience
if necessary. Most users won’t need t o use t his ut ilit y f or anyt hing ot her t han f irmware updat es, but advanced
users may f ind t hese t weaks help t hem get t he most out of t heir AV.io 4K.
These set t ings include:

aspect rat io preservat ion

performance mode
Input signal resolut ion (disabled by default )
There are t wo key descript ors used in t he process of video capt ure using a UVC-based device:
Ext ended Display Ident if icat ion Dat a (EDID): The EDID describes t o t he video source, video player or
comput er which st andard video f ormat s (resolut ions, f rame rat es, et c.) are support ed by t he capt ure device
as video input .
UVC Descript or: The UVC describes t o t he capt ure host comput er which f ormat s are available at t he capt ure
device USB port .
AV.io 4K does not enf orce a direct relat ionship bet ween t he input and out put signals. The list of EDID and
UVC descript ions are ident ical so t hat if t he input and out put f ormat s are t he same, t he signal can pass
t hrough wit hout scaling. However, if input and out put are set t o dif f erent f ormat s, AV.io 4K will aut omat ically
upscale or downscale video t o t he f ormat request ed as out put by t he capt ure sof t ware.
