Identification of the faulty section

It is done differently depending on the type of fault.

• Single phase phase-to-earth fault

The signaling of this fault is directional. All LYNX 3400s on the single-phase faulted

cable will flash in a single color.

The direction of the fault is given by the color of the flashing:
- Green flashing: The fault is on the part of the network towards the medium voltage

busbar.

- Red flashing: The fault is on the part of the external cable at the Medium voltage

substation.

• Polyphase fault

Polyphase fault signaling is not directional.
The LYNX 3400s have a polyphase fault and only they flash alternately green / red.

The faulty line section is classically identified as being between the last flashing
detector and the first non-flashing.

• Stop signaling

The stop of the luminous signaling is carried out:
- Automatically after two hours
- On return from the MV for a time greater than 5s
- By voluntary action on the BP2: BP RAZ. The action RAZ: Causes the stop of the

signaling

And according to the equipment:
- Opens the remote control output contacts
- Keeps incrementation counter

• Counter of faults

The counter is used to memorize the validated faults of a fugitive nature (elimination of

the fault by the reclosing sequences of the source station).

It has a LCD display of 4 digits.
The three green, red and polyphase counters are displayed alternately for 1s (total

duration).

The displayed value "xxxx" of a counter is 0000 to 9999.
To start the display procedure press the BP "display counters" (BP3).
