4.3.5 Using the Angle Of Turn Indicator
(Fig. 13, 14 and 15)
The angle of turn indicator allows
tightening to be performed using the
amount of nut or bolt rotation as a guide.
It is an optional accessory for all S-Series
wrenches
Use the angle of turn indicator as
described in the following steps. Refer to
sections 4.3.1 through 4.3.4 for detailed
wrench operation instructions and
precautions.
• Before placing the wrench on the nut
or bolt, complete any pre-torquing
procedures in accordance with the
standard operating procedures at your
worksite.
• Replace the drive shaft release button
(2) with the angle of turn indicator (22).
Be sure that the drive shaft (1) is locked
into place.
• Install the wrench on the nut or bolt,
making sure that there is a suitable
reaction point.
• Rotate the protractor by hand so that
the notch on the tool body aligns with
zero (0) degrees on the protractor.
NOTICE
In the following step, the
protractor will rotate as the wrench drive
turns.
• Operate the wrench until the notch on
the wrench body is aligned with the
correct number of degrees indicated on
the protractor. The nut or bolt has now
been tightened.
For example, if 120 degrees of
tightening is required, operate the
wrench until 120 aligns with the notch.
