Configuration using the Field Agent Configuration Tool will be supported in a future release
of the configuration tool.

Deploying the OSI PI Machine Adapter
The OSI PI Machine Adapter must be deployed in two pieces
–
an EdgeManager Application
and an EdgeManager Configuration. The specific Application and Configuration zip files to
upload to EdgeManager and deploy depends on the deployment option selected from the
Deployment Options section.

Performance
On the MFA, the OSI PI Machine Adapter was validated capable of reading 1,500 PI Points
every 30 seconds, down to a lower limit of 200 PI Points every 2 seconds. On the VFA, the
OSI PI Machine Adapter was validated capable of reading 20,000 PI Points every 30 seconds.
The first time a PI Point is read after the Machine Adapter is started or reconfigured, it is
always transmitted to Time Series Database (TSDB). Unchanged PI Points, based on the time
stamp from the PI Server, are not re-transmitted to TSDB. However, unchanged PI Points
still count against the configuration limits.
Actual OSI PI Machine Adapter performance will depend on the capabilities of the PI Server
and available network bandwidth for Predix communications.

Troubleshooting
Before attempting some of these possible solutions, be sure to check that the string for each
of the configurations in the .config and .xml files are valid and not empty. For example, verify
the PI Server IP address and Port number match the installed server.
