Empty all pockets
Hard items such as jewellery or coins may damage the washing
machine.
Divide clothing into the following groups
• Read the care label and divide garments as follows: cotton, mixed fibre, silk, synthe-
tics, wool and manmade fibres.
• Separate coloured and white garments. You should always wash new coloured gar-
ments separately for the first wash to avoid discolouring other items.
• You get better washing results when you mix garments of different sizes.
• Wash delicate garments separately. Choose a delicates programme when you wash
pure wool items, curtains or silk. Read the care label on all garments.
• Sort clothing before placing it in the washing machine. Remove any hooks from cur-
tains.
• Decorative items on clothing can damage the washing machine. Turn garments that
have buttons or embroidery inside out before placing them in the washing machine.
• Fasten all zips and buttons. Tie the ends of any loose cords together.
• Garments with metal fittings, such as bras, belts and metal buttons may damage the
washing machine. Place garments like this in a washing bag
designed for this purpose.
Use a suitable detergent
• Use a machine washing detergent that is suitable for the fabrics you intend to wash
(cotton, synthetics, delicates and wool).
• Adjust the amount of detergent to suit the colour, wash temperature, degree and type
of soiling.
• If you use too much detergent or if the wash temperature is too low, the detergent may
not dissolve. This can leave residue on clothing, pipes and the washing machine that
may affect future washes.
• Bleaches are alkaline and may damage clothing, so use them sparingly.
Important!
Keep detergents and other additives in a safe, dry place where children cannot reach
them.
