Voltage drops
Inrush currents cause short-time voltage drops.
Under unfavourable power supply conditions, other
equipment may be affected.
If the system impedance of the power supply is
lower than 0.25
ø
, disturbances are unlikely to
occur.
Assembly and adjustment
Prior to assembly and adjustment always
unplug the tool.
Mounting and removing the guard (fig. B)
• Place the angle grinder on a table, spindle up.
• Mount the guard to the tool using the three
screws (10) with star washers.
• Rotate the guard to the required position and
tighten the lock nut (11).
• To remove the guard, loosen the three screws (10).
DT53EK - Mounting and removing the diamond
guard (fig. C)
This model is supplied with a diamond guard which
has been designed for depth adjustment and
efficient dust extraction.
• Remove the guard from the angle grinder and
place the tool on a table, spindle up.
• Remove both screws (12) from the diamond
guard and disassemble the front plate (13).
• Insert the spindle through the hole in the rear
plate (14) and tighten the three screws (10).
Make sure the slots (15) in the rear plate and the
retention disk (16) coincide.
• Rotate the angle grinder to the required position
and tighten the lock nut (11).
• Fit an appropriate diamond cutting disk (see below).
• Mount the front plate (13). Make sure that the
dust extraction outlet (17) is properly caught in
the opening between front (13) and rear plate
(14). Hook the cam behind the ruler stop (18) in
the base plate to make sure the spring (19) can
move freely.
• Refit the screws (12).
• To remove the diamond guard, proceed in
reverse order.
Fitting and removing a grinding wheel or cutting
disk (fig. D)
• Place the tool on a table, guard up.
• Fit the spacer (20) correctly onto the spindle (5).
• Place the grinding wheel or cutting disk on the
spacer.
• Screw the threaded flange (21) onto the spindle (5).
• Press the spindle lock (4) and rotate the grinding
wheel or cutting disk until it locks in position.
• Tighten the threaded flange (21) with the two-pin
spanner supplied.
• Release the spindle lock.
• To remove the grinding wheel or cutting disk,
loosen the threaded flange (21) with the two-pin
spanner.
Fitting a wire cup brush
• Screw the wire cup brush directly onto the
spindle without the use of the spacer and
threaded flange.
Mounting the side handle (fig. E)
• For grinding, screw the side handle (6) tightly into
one of the holes (8) on either side of the gear case.
• For cutting, screw the side handle (6) tightly into
the top hole (7).
DT53EK - Mounting the round handle (fig. F)
• Remove the side handle.
• Mount the round handle (22) using the two
screws (23).
• Fit one screw in the top hole (7) and the other in
one of the side holes (8).
Instructions for use
• Always observe the safety instructions
and applicable regulations.
• Ensure all materials to be ground or cut
are secured in place.
• Apply only a gentle pressure to the tool.
Do not exert side pressure on the
grinding wheel or cutting disk.
• Avoid overloading. Should the tool
become hot, let it run a few minutes
under no load condition.
