NETWORK 2 COMMUNICATION BOARD
The Model 2000 can as an option be fitted with an Ethernet networking board, to enable selected data items to be read via a
Network connection. The Network Board can be placed in any of the user board slot position, its functions can be enabled
and set-up using the M2000 Windows software Ethernet Access options.
The M2000 Network 2 card operates at the 10/100MHz speed connection is made via a standard 8 pin RJ45 connector.
Correct connection to a Network and communication is indicated by two green and one yellow LED indicators :-
LNK
indicates connection to an Ethernet link
ACT
indicates Ethernet activity
SPD
indicates connection to a functioning 100Base-T network .
Dimensional and other information is shown in Figure 14.
The Model 2000 Network 2 board currently has 5 functional areas.
2.11.1.
WEB ACCESS
The IP address of the card can be programmed manually, or alternatively the settings can be obtained via DHCP from a local
server. Each card can be given a unique tag name that is used on the web pages of that card.
2.11.2.
MODBUS TCP/IP SLAVE
It is possible to setup 3 different modbus configurations using 3 separate Modbus TCP/IP ports. These ports will service
modbus functions 0x03 read holding registers, and 0x10 preset multiple registers.
2.11.3.
PASSTHROUGH
Passthrough communications can be configured to an Instromet USM, or to any connected HART loop. Note, for HART
passthrough an Input 2 Card must be used. An additional passthrough driver is required to use this functionality. The driver
and documentation is available from Elster Instromet Systems in Essen.
2.11.4.
MODBUS TCP/IP MASTER
The modbus master functionality allows a Gas chromatograph to be connected via TCP/IP. Ths chromatograph should be
setup as normal, but instead of configuring a serial port the network port should be configured. The modbus TCP/IP master
port uses modbus functions 0x03 read holding registers, and 0x10 preset multiple registers.
