ERT-A2 ALERT2 Configuration Manual
Revision 1.0
29
If another event occurs while the modem is powered the ERTA2 will send this while the modem is
powered.
Note: ensure that the inputs sensitivity and paralysis times are configured carefully to ensure best
current consumption and that multiple events are not keeping the modem powered longer than
necessary.
Once all data is sent the modem will be powered down.
When using Cellular as the primary communications the cell modem will come preconfigured to
communicate with the ERTA2. But the cellular SIM card and the cellular carrier APN does not need
to be configuration to make a connection to the cellular network.
RS-232 Reporting
A communications port can be configured as RS232 reporting which allows for a third party external
RS-232 based device to be connected to the ERTA2 unit and transmit the ALERT2 data messages.
This is useful for other communications media such as modems or satellite that are not supported by
the ERTA2.
RS232 Serial Manu
When this option is selected the RS-232 will output the configuration menu. This is a legacy setting
to allow configuration in similar way to legacy ELRPO ERRTS products.
Configuration ALERT Quick Setup
ALERT Quick Setup is a good base configuration for IO to start a new configuration with. It will setup
a basic configuration in line with local government standard setup for a typical flood warning or
environment application configuring rain, river (4-20mA analog) and battery sensors.

Once you have selected the
unit’s
system you will see the follow below (metric units in this
example). For each item that requires user input it will show the current value. To change, simple
backspace out current value and enter the new value required.
Configuring Rain ID 0
Automatically configure rain pulsed input with
type unsigned 4 byte to sensor ID 0 with units
of mm and 1mm per count.
Configuring River Analog ID 7
Configuring rain input with a signed 3 byte
value and sensor ID 7
Transducer Full Range (mm): 5000
Configure 100% span of the 4-20mA
transducer. For example if you have a 20m
transducer then use 20000 for this value.
Analog Sample Time: (min) 15
Configure analog sample time required. Keep
this value as large as possible for application for
best possible energy usage.
Analog Warmup Time: (sec) 4
4-20mA analog input sensor warmup time.
Some transducer types will require time to
