protection is applied.
3. Health damage caused by hand-arm
vibrations if the equipment is used over a
longer period or is not properly guided and
maintained.
5. Before starting the equipment
Warning!
Always remove the battery before making
adjustments to the tool.
Danger!
Do not
fi
t the battery until the tool has been fully
assembled.
When you want to carry out work on the tool
itself, always wear protective gloves and use the
supplied blade covers to protect yourself against
injury.
Each time before use you must check that:
•
the safety devices and the cutting device are
in perfect condition and complete;
•
all screws are securely fastened
•
all moving parts move smoothly.
5.1 Fitting the steady grip (Fig. 3)
To
fi
t/remove the steady grip, use the supplied
hex key (Fig. 2 / Item. 30).
Place the steady grip (Item 17) on the steady grip
holder (Item 7). Insert the grip screw (Item 18) into
the steady grip (Item 17). Screw the side steady
grip (Item 19) onto the steady grip.
If necessary you can adjust the position of the
steady grip after slackening the grip screw.
Tighten the grip screw again before you use the
tool. You can also hold and guide the tool by the
side steady grip.
After the steady grip has been
fi
tted, it is not
allowed to be removed again even for cleaning
and maintenance. The steady grip must always
be
fi
tted in accordance with the instructions (with
the side steady grip on the left side of the tool) in
order to comply with the required safe distance
from the rotating tools.
5.2 Fitting the harness (Fig. 4)
Attach the carabiner (Item 34) of the harness
(Item 20) to the harness holder (Item 5). Use the
harness adjuster to set the optimum harness
length. If necessary you can adjust the position
of the harness holder (Item 5) on the long handle.
To do so, slacken the wing nut (Fig. 2 / Item 6) on
the harness holder, move the harness holder and
then re-tighten the wing nut.
5.3 Fitting the extension tube on the motor
unit (Fig. 5-6)
Note:
It is possible to
fi
t all modules either with or
without the extension tube (Fig. 2 / Item 13). This
depends on the required working height.
Make sure that the mounting screws (Item 35) are
on the same side and insert the extension tube
(Item 13) into the tube of the motor unit (Item 12).
Screw the two tubes together with the union nut
(Item 8). The motor unit is now screwed to the
extension tube (Fig. 6). To dismantle, proceed in
reverse order.
5.4 Converting the connecting tube
The string trimmer / brush cutter module
(Fig. 2 / Item 14) comes with the connecting tube
(Fig. 2 / Item 9) already
fi
tted. To be able to use a
di
ff
erent module you must convert the connecting
tube.
This is explained in section 5.9 taking the
telescoping pole chain saw module as an
example.
Assembly / adjustments of the string trimmer
/ brush cutter
Note:
•
The string trimmer / brush cutter module (Fig.
2 / Item 14) comes with the connecting tube
(Fig. 2/Item 9) already fitted.
•
The tool is supplied from the factory ready for
operation as a trimmer with string.
•
The tool is allowed to be used as a string
trimmer only when it is fitted with the string
blade guard hood (Fig. 2 / Item 27) (pre-fitted
at the factory).
5.5 Fitting the guard hood (Fig. 7)
Use the supplied hex key (Item 30) to remove
the hex screw from the guard hood. Push the
guard hood (Item 26) onto the mount on the gear
housing as far as it will go and screw it securely
in place with the previously removed hex screw.
Remove the protective sticker (Item 36) from
the string blade. Warning! Take care not to cut
yourself on the string blade.
