Rear swivel handle (Fig. 4/5)
The hedge shears are fitted with a rear swiveling
handle. This can be turned through 45° and 90°
both counter-clockwise and clockwise. Pull the
slide (4) in the direction indicated by the arrow
and turn the handle. Pull the slide (4) in the direc-
tion indicated by the arrow again to return the
handle to its original position. When the handle is
back in its standard position the top slide must be
pushed forward to lock it.
The handle should be turned through 90° for cut-
ting vertically.
In so doing, please check the running of the
blades.
-
Please check that the blades function correctly.
The blades cut on both sides and run in opposite
directions to each other, for guaranteed high
cutting performance and quiet operation.
-
Fasten the extension cable to the cable holder
before starting to use the machine (see Fig. 6).
-
For use in the open air you must only use
extension cables certified for the purpose.
9. Tips on use
쎲
The hedge trimmer can be used not only for trim-
ming hedges but for trimming shrubs and bushes
as well.
쎲
For optimum trimming performance, guide the
blade teeth at an angle of approx. 15° to the
hedge (see Fig. 7).
쎲
Since the blades cut on both sides and run in
opposite directions to each other, you can trim in
both directions (see Fig. 8).
쎲
To achieve a hedge with a uniform height it is
recommended that you stretch a piece of string
along the edge of the hedge for guidance. Then
simply cut away all twigs projecting above the
line (see Fig. 9).
쎲
The sides of the hedge should be trimmed with
arc-type movements from below upwards (see
Fig. 10).
10. Care, maintenance and storage
쎲
Always switch off the machine and pull the plug
before you start to clean the machine.
쎲
For optimum results at all times you should regu-
larly clean and lubricate the blades. Remove any
deposits with a brush and apply a light film of oil
(see Fig. 11).
Use biologically degradable oil.
쎲
Clean the plastic body with gentle domestic clea-
ning agent and a damp cloth. Never use aggres-
sive media or solvents.
쎲
It is imperative that you prevent water from pene-
trating the machine. Never spray the machine
down with water.
쎲
For storage purposes the hedge trimmer can be
fastened to the wall with suitable screws and
dowels (see Fig. 12).
11. Faults
쎲
The machine does not start: Check that the
power cable is correctly connected and check the
mains fuses. If the machine still does not work
even with connected voltage, please send it to
the specified customer services address.
12. Disposal
Important!
The hedge trimmer and its accessories are made of a
diversity of materials such as, e.g. metal and plastic.
Defective parts must be disposed of as special
waste. Ask your specialist dealer or local authority for
details about where they can be disposed of!
