1. General Description
This option transmits serial RS-232 (5-volt) data on the white/green wire (pin 9) of the R-1. The
serial data transmitted is the same as that shown on the digital display of the R-1. The white/green
wire may be connected to a PC through Electronics International’s 8 Channel Multiplexer Unit (MUX-
8). If the transmitted signal is inverted, it may be connected directly to a PC. The serial data is trans-
mitted in a comma delimited format, suitable for importing into most spreadsheet and data base pro-
grams.

The RS-232 (5-volt) option does not affect the operation of the R-1. See the R-1 Operating and
Installation Instructions for R-1 operating information.

Place the white/green wire (included in the kit) into pin 9 from the back of the R-1 cable harness.
RS-232 (5-volt) serial data is transmitted on this wire.
