THE COMPRESSOR UNIT MUST BE LEVEL PRIOR TO OPERATION.
A. The compressor
suddenly stops
and does not restart.
B. The compressor
will not restart.
C. Air leaks continuously
from pressure switch.
D. Excessive Oil Com-
sumption.
E. Pumping up slowly.
F. Regulator will not
adjust air fl ow.
G. Air leak through top
hole in regulator.
TROUBLESHOOTING AND SOLUTIONS FOR HCP-2
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Wait a short time and push the reset button.
2. Re-evaluate power source and gauge of exte-
sion cord being used.
1. Unplug motor & adjust position of relief valve so
L-bracket makes contact with needle valve.
2. Replace capacitor. *See also A1 & A2.
1. Stop the compressor, disconnect it from rece-
ptacle, discharge air from tank. Replace check
valve.
2. Replace pressure switch relief valve.
1. Clean or replace air fi lter element.
2. Drain oil and refi ll to proper level.
3. Clean or replace valves.
4. Call EDCO 1-800-638-3236 for instructions.
5. Remove dipstick. Check breather holes to make
sure they are clear.
1. Replace or cap off port for valve.
2. Clean or replace valves.
3. Clean or replace air fi lter element.
4. Replace head gaskets.
1. Open shut-off valve.
2. Replace regulator.
1. Unplug and drain tank completely.
2. Disassemble regulator. Check condition of
plunger and seal above plunger. Remove
obstruction. Reassemble - making sure plunger
and hole in seal are aligned.
1. The thermal reset has
interrupted the circuit.
2. Poor power source and/or
improper gauge of extension cord.
1. Relief valve in pressure
switch is not working properly.
2. Capacitor worn/weakened. *See also A1 & A2.
1. Check valve not sealing.
2.PS2020RV is worn out.
1. Restricted or dirty air fi lter element.
2. Crankcase is over fi lled with oil.
3. Valves not seating properly.
4. Worn pistion rings.
5. Obstructed crankcase breather.
1. Defective “cold-start” valve.
2. Broken or dirty valves..
3. Dirty intake air fi lter element.
4. Head gasket blown.
1. Round “RED” shut-off valve below pressure
switch is closed.
2. Regulator adjustment cap is stripped out.
1. Loose fi t.
NOTE: INSTRUCTIONS, OPERATION, MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE SHOOT-
ING FOR THE PAC-1.5 ARE THE SAME AS FOR THE PAC-5 AND PAC-8
DESCRIBED EARLIER IN THIS MANUAL. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE, PAC-5 AND
PAC-8 ARE GASOLINE POWERED AND THE PAC-1.5 ELECTRIC POWERED.
