Safety
Helmet
Because of how quickly you can accelerate with your electric bike and the greater speeds of operation,
you should always wear an approved helmet while riding your ebike and follow the helmet
manufacturers instructions for the use and care of your helmet. It is your responsibility to familiarize
yourself with the laws of where you ride your bike to comply with all applicable laws.
Mechanical Safety Check
Before each ride you should do a careful check of the condition of the components on your ebike. Make
sure that no nuts, bolts or fixings are loose, with particular attention to the axle nuts and handlebar
stem. Make sure that the tires are correctly inflated with the recommended air pressure that is located
on the sidewall of every tire. Check the brakes for proper operation. You must take your bike in to be
serviced and checked by a qualified bike mechanic before 160 km (100 miles) of riding. It is a standard
good practice for any new bike, as cables will stretch, and components will “bed in.” The service should
include spoke tension for both front and rear wheels.
Your First Ride
When you buckle on your helmet and go for your first ride, be sure to pick an area away from cars, other
cyclists, obstacles or other hazards in order to become familiar with the controls, features, and
performance of your new bike. The acceleration on an ebike is quite powerful.
It is good practice to start and stop your ebike at power level 0 with no power assist. If you leave your
bike on any other power level other and accidentally hit or twist the throttle, the ebike may advance
without notice.
Additional Passengers
The ebike is designed for one passenger only. Do not carry any additional passengers on the front
handlebars or the rear of the ebike. Doing so would void your warranty.
Weight Capacity
Your electric bike is designed for a maximum weight capacity of 118 kg (260 pounds(, which includes the
rider and cargo. The rear rack maximum weight capacity of most ebikes is about 11 kg (25 lbs.). Exceeding
the maximum weight capacity can result in damage of the ebike which can also lead to serious injury or
death.
Tires and Wheels
Make sure the tires are correctly inflated. Check by putting one hand on the saddle, one on the
intersection of the handlebars and stem, then bouncing your weight on the ebike while looking at the
tire deflection. Compare what you see how it looks when you know the tires are correctly inflated.
Adjust if necessary.
