7.2 Brew group cleaning and degreasing
A brew group cleaner (in powder or tablet form) is available at your specialised dealer. With this detergent, you can
clean and degrease the group very easily. The cleaning is carried out using the blind filter included in delivery. The
group cleaning with our tablets can be carried out after approx. 150 cups.
Follow the instructions as noted below:
1
Heat up the machine.
2
Put the blind filter into the portafilter.
3
Pour ½ spoon full of detergent or a tablet into the blind filter of the portafilter.
4
Place the portafilter in the group head.
5
Operate the coffee button. The blind filter will fill with water.
6
Operate the coffee button in intervals of approx. 20 seconds.
7
Repeat point 6 several times until the water released by the outlet connection is clear again.
8
Remove the portafilter again, rinse it with fresh water and place it back into the brew group.
9
Operate the coffee button. The portafilter is filled with water again. Repeat this several times
10
Remove the portafilter and place a filter into the portafilter. Now the brew group is ready for use again.
Caution!
Beware of hot water sprayings while cleaning the brew group.
7.3 Prophylactic descaling
The regular descaling of your machine is recommended in order to avoid strong calcification and expensive repairs.
While descaling, always take into account the hardness degree of the water. It is very important to use a sparing
descaler which does not affect the metal. At your specialised dealer, you can purchase a descaler in powder or tablet
form perfectly suited for your machine. Follow the steps as indicated below:
1
Dissolve the descaler in water according to the instructions for use (see above) and pour the solution into the
water tank. Switch on the machine.
2
Release a minimum total of 400-500 ml of water from the brew group and from the steam/ hot water dispenser.
Thus, the boiler is filled with descaler. Then heat up the machine to operating temperature.
3
Place the portafilter with the blind filter into the brew group and operate the coffee button 3 times for about 20
seconds each time. Switch off the coffee button after every operation. This descales the expansion valve.
4
After this process, let the descaler react for approx.
½ hour
.
5
Release the remaining descaler solution by operating the coffee button.
6
Switch off the machine, remove and clean the water tank and fill it with fresh water.
7
Switch on the machine and release approx. 400-500 ml of water from the group and the steam/ hot water valve
(switch pump/ hot water).
8
Clamp the portafilter with the blind filter back into the brew group and activate the coffee button 3 times for
approx. 20 seconds. This descales the expansion valve.
9
Repeat the process of pos. 7 approx. 4 times to make sure that no descaler is left in the boiler.
10
Then remove the blind filter from the portafilter.
Important!
These descaling instructions are only meant for prophylactic descaling. Please do not descale the
machine if it is already calcified. While descaling the machine, the lime residues can plug several
components, such as valves, gauges etc., causing damage to your espresso coffee machine. In this case,
please contact your specialised dealer. It is probable that a professional descaling has to be carried out
which requires the disassembling of boiler and tubing.
Damage to persons or to the material, caused by calcification in and on your machine, is not subject to
the manufacturer’s liability.
In this case, the warranty expires as well. Machines will only be accepted for repair after previous
technical advice and written acknowledgement has been given.
Please do not enclose loose parts e. g. portafilter or drip tray when sending in the machine for repairs
/ maintenance.
