5.1 Before starting
5.1.1 Packaging
In the interest of preserving the environment, Eaton aims
to use recycled packaging wherever practical. Due to the
physical nature of our products, we provide adequate
packaging to protect the goods during transit. Please
ensure that once unpacked, checked and installed that
all packaging is disposed / recycled in a responsible
manner.
5.1.2 Electrostatic discharge
The Sonix PA/GA system is largely constructed from
electronic printed circuit boards. These printed circuit
boards are sensitive to static electricity; ESD discharge
on to any of the Eaton products could cause permanent
and irreparable damage to the equipment. All such PCBs
are shipped to you in ESD protective bags for transit.
Prior to opening the transit bags please ensure that you
are wearing either an ESD, earthed wrist strap or other
suitable means of protection.
5.1.3 Safe working practice
Whilst working on or within the Sonix PA/GA system it
is our prime interest that you remain safe throughout.
During this work you will be exposed to potentially
hazardous voltages, currents, confined spaces and
potentially hazardous industrial environments. Prior to
undertaking any work please ensure relevant permits
and regulations are adhered to.

Ensure the system is not powered when Sonix Eol8 protective
cover is NOT fitted.
5.4 Electrical Connections
Sonix Eol8 is equipped with 8off pairs of RJ45 CAT6A
plugs for connection of up to 8 amplifiers and 32 Phoenix
Contact blade connectors for on field loudspeaker loop
termination.
Warning:
The CAT6A cables carry 100V audio power
line, Electrical Shock risk warning labels shall be fitted
on both ends.
5.4.1 EOL Bus connections (RJ45 CAT6A)
The RJ45 EOL Bus connections should be made top
and bottom from Sonix 350-d amplifier to the Eol8. The
audio from the amplifier will output on the corresponding
4 ports.
There is no polarity on the EOL bus connections, they
can be connected Top-Top, Top-Bottom or Bottom-
Bottom.
Warning:
Do NOT cross-connect EOL connections
between amplifiers, always connect in top & bottom
pairs.
The EOL Bus cables also carry a safety interlock
signal to prevent the amplifier from outputting 100 V
audio when both EOL connections are not correctly
terminated.
