5.4.2 Loudspeaker loop connections (Phoenix Contact
blade terminals)
The Sonix Eol8 unit has a set of 32 Phoenix blade
connectors split into 8 loops of 4 terminals each. Each
loop has the following connections:

Warning:
The Blade terminals are not intended to be
used for protective isolation of a loudspeaker loop,
there is no lockout option and should be used for
functional isolation only.
Warning:
The Blade terminals require the use of a
specifically designed terminal driver, not supplied:
Phoenix Contact 1205121.
Maximum cable section supported by the unit are:

Solid:
4.0 mm

5.4.3 Earth connection
The Sonix Eol8 unit has an M4 stud for connection to
Earth. The Earth connection is used as a low impedance
return for the Lightning arresters fitted to the unit.
It is recommended that the Earth connection be made
to PE (Protective Earth) but if system is required to
use TE (Telecoms / Instrumentation Earth) then this is
acceptable.
Warning:
The Earth connection must be
connected, properly terminated and checked during
commissioning.

5.4.4 Lightning/Surge arresters
Gas discharge tubes have been fitted to the Sonix Eol8
to act as lightning / surge arresters. They are placed to
reduce the likelihood of damage to amplifiers and other
equipment in the rack from a lightning strike in the field.

If system is installed in an area with high likelihood of lightning
then additional surge arresters should be installed on the incoming field
cabling. Please contact your Eaton sales representative to discuss this
further.
