Pow-R-Command 100 Relay Cabinet
The Pow-R-Command 100 Relay Cabinet is
designed for circumstances where relays are
desired over Smart Breakers. The Pow-R-
Command 100 Relay Cabinet is a self
contained enclosure designed to accommo-
date the necessary relays and Pow-R-
Command 100 controllers.
Please note that
relays are sold separately of the Pow-R-
Command 100 Relay Cabinet.
Relay Cabinet Features
•
Cabinet Dimensions: 24-inches Wide, 30-
inches High, & 5-inches Deep
•
NEMA Type 1 Enclosure Only
•
Space for 48 Relays
•
Integral 28V ac Control Power Transformer
•
Surface or Flush Mounted
•
UL 916 Listed
Relay Specification
As standard, Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer uses
Touchplate, or comparable, type relays.
Relay features include:
•
28V ac Latching Control Mechanism
•
20A 347V ac Max
•
Status Feedback Into Pow-R-Command
100 System.
•
Single Pole Only
In addition to the Touchplate® relays, the
Pow-R-Command 100 Relay Cabinet can
control GE RR8 & RR9 relays. This can be a
useful trait when retrofitting a facility which
already uses these types of relays.
Standard Relay Cabinet Components
The Pow-R-Command 100 Relay Cabinet
comes standard with a number of compo-
nents. These parts include the Cabinet,
Interior, Control Power Transformer, Relay
Termination Board, Relay Termination
Adaptor Board, and USC.
Control Power
Both the Touchplate relays and the Pow-R-
Command 100 controllers require 28V ac for
operation. Each Pow-R-Command 100
Relay Cabinet is complete with a dual tap
control power transformer that can be used
in both 120V ac and 277V ac applications.
Fusing is provided on the primary side of the
transformer and a switch with thermo
magnetic protection is provided on the
secondary side of the transformer. 28V ac
is transferred to all devices (relays and Pow-
R-Command 100 devices) through the
Relay Termination Board.
Relay Termination Board
The Relay Termination Board is a large
printed circuit board that stretches the width
and length of the interior of the Pow-R-
Command 100 Relay Cabinet. The Relay
Termination Board provides a connection
point for up to three Pow-R-Command 100
controllers, connection point for up to 48
relays, terminations for up to 48 two-wire
switch inputs, connection to the Pow-R-
Command 100 network, and acts as a
control power bus to all devices attached to
it.
Application Specific Controller Ports
Located on the Relay Termination Board are
three (3) sets of white connection ports.
These connection ports are used to attach
the controllers installed in the Pow-R-
Command 100 Relay Cabinet. The first two
sets of ports are used to connect the Relay
Termination Adaptor Board, the last set is
used to connect a Switch Override
Controller only. See
Technical Document
1412011E
for more information on the
Switch Override Controller.
Relay Termination Adaptor Board
The Relay Termination Adaptor Board is
used to make more efficient use of space
when mounting a USC and/or Pow-R-
Command 100 Network Access Device into
a Pow-R-Command 100 Relay Cabinet.
The Relay Termination Adaptor Board
attaches to the Relay Termination Board on
the first two sets of Pow-R-Command
controller ports. The Relay Termination
Adaptor Board rotates the first two sets of
application specific controller ports 90
degrees so the USC and applicable Pow-R-
Command 100 Network Access Device can
be vertically mounted.
Relay Termination Points
Located along each side of the Relay
Termination Board are 24 four-pin connec-
tion points suited for the connector found on
a Touchplate Relay. Each connection point
is numbered. When using a GE RR8 or
RR9 relay a special connector must be
attached to the control wires from the relay
in order for it to be attached to the relay
termination ports.
Switch Input Terminations
Located at the bottom of the Relay
Termination Board are three rows of screw
terminations. These termination points are
used to attach up to 48 two-wire switch
inputs to the Pow-R-Command 100 Relay
Cabinet. In order for a switch input wired to
these termination points to be recognized, a
Switch Override Controller must be used.
See
Technical Document TD01412011E
for more information on wiring to and using
these termination points.
Optional Relay Cabinet Components
Two optional components that can be
purchased separately and mounted integral
to the Relay Cabinet. These two items are
the Pow-R-Command 100 Switch Override
Controller and the Universal Modem
interface
Switch Override Controller
The Switch Override Controller is a Pow-R-
Command 100 controller. Its basic function
is to provide processing of addition inputs
into the Pow-R-Command 100 system. A
Switch Override Controller is commonly
used when more then 12 inputs need to be
wired to a panel. For more information on
the Switch Override Controller, see
Technical Document TD1412011E
.
