FORMAT
The format used in procedures involving software applications is as follows:
•
The windows and programmes, applications, files, folders, directories, etc. appear in bold
and between inverted commas.
Example: Open the folder “Control panel” and select the file “Install”.
•
The window menus displayed on the screen are in bold and between square brackets.
Example: In the [Session] menu, select [Open].
•
The window tabs displayed on the screen are in bold and between braces.
Example: Click on the {Characteristics} tab.
•
The window fields and zones displayed on the screen are in bold italics and between
braces.
Example: The {Attributes} field is used to display the attributes of an element.
•
The boxes to be checked and the window buttons displayed on the screen are in bold italics
and between square brackets.
Example: Check the [Exit] box then click on [OK].
•
The prompts, messages and questions displayed on the screen are in bold italics and
between inverted commas.
Example: “Press any key to continue...”
•
The keyboard keys to be pressed by the operator are in bold and between square brackets.
Example: Press <Enter>.
•
The replies and commands are in bold.
Example: Enter the command install *.*.
•
The character
