When making disc copies or recording data to a CD, ensure
that the discs are free of dust and scratches.
•
Clean the D
ISC

LONE
II with a soft, slightly dampened lint-
free cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents as they may
have a corrosive effect.

II cannot read CDs correctly, use a
commercial cleaning CD to clean the lens before taking the

II to be repaired. Always keep the tray closed to
avoid dust from getting on the lens.
Handling CDs
Follow these tips to get the best use from your CDs:

Keep your CDs in their original case when not in use to
prevent them from becoming scratched.
•
Always handle CDs by their outer edges to prevent
fingerprints, smudges, and other dirt to compromise the
disc.
•
Do not use dirty or scratched CDs in the

to
avoid damaging the drive.
•
When cleaning a CD, clean both sides with a damp cloth by
wiping gently from the center spindle hole out towards the
edge. Do not use chemical solvents to clean your CDs.

Always load the CD into the S

label or printed side facing up.
•
Keep your CDs away from direct sunlight and high tempera-
tures or humidity.
•
Use a soft felt-tip pen to write on the printed side of a CD-R
or CD-RW disc. Do not write on the non-printed (shiny)
side.
