MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Attention! Always switch off the appliance and unplug it from the mains before cleaning it. Wait
until everything is completely cool before you start cleaning.
Never immerse the appliance in water, never spray it with water and never hold it under a tap.
•
Clean the outside cover of the appliance with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth and then wipe the cleaned
surfaces with a dry lint-free cloth. Take care not to allow any moisture inside the cover. Let the appliance dry
completely before re-using or storing it.
•
To remove the water filter screen, push carefully on the upper collar outwards from the tank then lift it out.
The water filter must be rinsed in a soft, neutral rinsing agent, while taking care not to tear the fine screening
filter material. Before replacing, rinse the filter screen in clean water.
•
When cleaning the appliance, never use solvent (acetone, benzole, petrol, alcohol, etc.) as these may solve the
casing material, or the internal parts of the appliance if they get into. Do not use cleaning agents with coarse
or grinding effect.
•
Before packing away, the inside of the tank must be completely dry to avoid mould.
•
If you do not want to use the appliance for a long time, after cleaning put it into a nylon bag and store in a dry,
dust and frost free place. The power cable should be wound onto the storage area at the bottom of the foot.
Removing scale from the appliance
•
Over time, a considerable amount of scale can build up in the tank of the water heater, significantly increasing
the boiling time. This results from segregation and deposition of lime and other minerals from water. For this
reason, scale should be removed from the appliance from time to time. If the removal of scale is neglected for
long periods, deposits can cause failure or in extreme cases even damage the appliance (the manufacturer’s
warranty does not cover this damage). In order to prevent this, regularly de-scale the appliance. For normal
use, if tap water hardness doesn’t exceed 18 DH (22,5 Clarke), the scale should be removed 2 or 3 times yearly.
If tap water hardness exceeds 18 DH (22,5 Clarke), scale should be removed 4 to 5 times yearly. Water hardness
largely depends on locality. Frequent use and very hard tap water might require even more frequent removal
of scale than stated above. For more information about tap water hardness at the site of use consult the local
waterworks.
1. Fill the water heater tank with 0.5 litre of 20% table vinegar and add 0.5 litre tap water, then mix. Then put
the appliance ON and boil the solution. After boiling, wait until the appliance switchs OFF automatically.
2. Leave the acetic solution in the tank overnight and pour away next morning.
3. Fill the water tank to the maximum level mark with clear water and boil. After boiling, pour away the water
to remove remaining vinegar and scale. Then rinse the tank again with clean water.
