serious injury.

CAUTION

Caution indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in property

WARNING
Mattresses MUST be cleaned regularly after each patient use. Because of the potential risk of
infectious exposure, cleaning with the patient on the bed is not recommended. All equipment
should be inspected.  Any item that is visibly soiled with the patient’s blood or other bodily fluids
should be properly cleaned or removed. Staff members should treat all soiled bedding as if it
were contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms. Staff members should wear appropriate
protective clothing when cleaning mattresses. All cleaning solutions must be properly diluted
according to the manufacturers’ instructions. Follow standard institutional wipe down and
infection control procedures. DO NOT open the zippered mattress top cover during cleaning,
infection control procedures or during use.

Gives useful tips, recommendations and information for efficient, trouble-free use.
