Basic Operation
Basic Operation
Battery pack
The normal power source for the 61000 is the 50/60Hz 120/230V ac power source with
back-up from the internal battery pack. The external power adapter (either AC Adapter/
Battery Charger or DC-DC converter) is used to charge the battery. Always charge the
battery fully before use. 61000 will always operate on the power adapter and is
designed to do so, regardless of the state of charge of the battery.
AC power
source
The 61000 can be operated from a 50/60Hz 120/230V ac power source.
Connect the ac adapter output cable to the input connector on the rear panel of the
61000. Connect the appropriate ac adapter power cord for the country to an appropriate
outlet.
Turn-on
procedure
Follow these steps to turn on the 61000 and display the Home screen. Home screen is
frequently referenced as the starting point for all major functionalities of 61000.
Step
Action
1
Verify that the power switch on the 61000 connector panel is turned off.
2
Verify that the power to the circuit to be measured is turned off.
3
Connect the measurement cables for the type of circuit being measured
as described in Chapter 2 Controls, Indicators and Connectors. See the
appropriate connection diagram in Chapter 3 Circuit Diagrams for
Power Monitoring. Typical voltages measured are 120V ac nominal per
phase with a load current of 50 Amps.
4
Turn on power to the circuit to be measured.
5
Turn on power to the 61000.
6
Verify that the LCD (if available) displays instrument-specific
information. The Home screen contains the icons used to access
