4.5.1 Taking an automatic breath sample
Use a new mouthpiece for each measurement.
Do not allow any high alcohol concentrations on the sensor, e.g., by
purging the mouth with a high proof alcohol shortly before the
measurement. Doing so shortens the life span of the sensor.
When removing the mouthpiece (see "Order list", page 61) from the
packaging, ensure that the part that goes into the mouth remains in
the packaging. The mouth contact area must remain protected for
hygiene reasons.
The mouthpiece can be inserted into the mouthpiece receptacle
from both sides (right or left).
1. Open the mouthpiece packaging using the prefabricated
perforation and remove the part of the packaging that will be
placed on the device. Leave the mouth contact area protected in
the packaging for hygiene reasons (see fold-out page, Figure A).
2. Insert the mouthpiece upwards and tilted at the corner of the
mouthpiece receptacle casing so that the contact surface
(serrated marking) is pointing upwards (see fold-out page, Figure
A, A).
3. Hold the mouthpiece in the tilted position and slide upwards until
the mounting spacer stops the movement at the bottom of the
mouthpiece (see fold-out page Figure A, left-hand side).
4. Press the mouthpiece into the mouthpiece receptacle of the
device on the contact surface (see fold-out page, Figure A, B).
The mouthpiece audibly clicks into place.
5. Remove the rest of the mouthpiece packaging.
