Conse-
quences If the oxygen sensor is improperly calibrated, it can cause inaccurate
measurements. When a calibration gas mixture is excessively rich or lean
in oxygen, the Narkomed MRI-2 will not complete an attempted
calibration; however, if the calibration gas is rich or lean but is within
certain limits, the Narkomed MRI-2 will complete the calibration. As a
result, when displaying sensor measurements, the Narkomed MRI-2
displays an oxygen percentage either greater or less than the actual
oxygen percentage. Therefore, make sure that the sensor is exposed only to
room air during the entire calibration period.
Figure 11-4 illustrates the relationship between the calibration mixture
and the accuracy of oxygen measurement.
