Introduction:
The residual current device type B DER3BDUAL series, fully compliant with IEC 60947-2: 2019, can be used in LV network in DC (pole to ground), AC (TT,
TN) or mixed current. The series is recommended for the use with inverter, UPS, frequency converters, photovoltaic system, production facilities on construction
sites, lifts, lathes, milling machines, since these devices, that generate direct or mixed residual current, which the normal residual current devices type A-AC don't
detect, are becoming more common.
INSTALLATION SUGGESTIONS AND SAFETY PRECAUTION:
All installation and maintenance operations must be carried out by qualified personnel in the absence of voltage and in a total electrical safety regime, in compliance
with the safety regulations.
1) Before powering the DER3BDUAL, check that all connections have been executed properly.
2) ALWAYS install DER3BDUAL by using Dossena toroidal transducers B and D series (DER B D toroid).
3) The cross-section of the conductors must be such that the total resistance of each DER3BDUAL ↔transducer connections does not exceed 0.5Ω.
4) Minimize the distance connections between DER3BDUAL and transducers and keep them away from power cables; use twisted shielded cables, with the shield
connected to ground at one point only (keep the measurement circuit separate from test circuit).
5)
At the first commissioning perform the calibration of toroids, please view section SETUP item CAL.
NORMAL VIGILANCE (GREEN DISPLAY)
Pag 1:
The system alternating residual current (
I∆
in Ampere AC TRMS) and direct residual
current (
I∆
in Ampere DC TRMS) are shown in this page.
Pag 2:
The system total residual current (
I∆
in Ampere) and relative % value of residual
current in AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) are shown in this page.
Others parameters in either pages:
I∆n=
Threshold of the nominal residual current.
∆t=
Limiting non-actuating time.
histogram
= Instantaneous histogram that identifies residual current in DC (solid segment)
and AC (diagonal stripes segment) .
AL
= Alarm threshold.
Keys function (for 6Din version the keys are on the right side):
►
: Push this button to display Pag1 (value in TRMS) or Pag 2 (% value).
: Push this button to adjust the contrast.
TEST
: The test checks the complete protection system (DE B and D Toroids T.C.). Push quickly the test button to start the test. Display becomes red.
TRIP relay and the 2
nd
relay change state. Danger signal and message “TRIP” appear flashing. Press “RESET” button to reset, if the reset mode is set as manual mode
(MAN).
Note
: In case of strong electromagnetic disturbances the display may go blank or irregular: push the button
►
to restore the normal display.
SETUP (BLU DISPLAY)
(for 6Din version the keys are on
the right side)
CAL=
button for toroids calibration. This operation must be perfomed in total absence of differential current dispersion. Enter in
SETUP, by pushing SET button for at least 3 sec (blue display), then pushing quickly for two times CAL button. The display appears
violet and the device make the calibration automatically. This operation is absolutely necessary for commissioning of the
instrument. If calibration will be good, the display backs to blue and it will no longer be necessary repeat this procedure. It's not
possible make calibration if an important alarm is detected by device (ALA – TRIP - TORO).
1 -
push SET button for at least 3 seconds to enter in SET UP (
display becomes blue).
2- push quickly SET button to select cyclically the parameter to modify (it will appear flashing).
3- push
▲▼
buttons
to modify the selected parameter.
4-
push SET button for at least 3 seconds to exit from SETUP and save the parameters
(display returns green).
DER3BDUAL automatically exits from SETUP without saving modification, after 3 minutes of inactivity.
Note
: The new setup parameters will be operative only after saving. If an alarm occurs in setup, it is caused by the previously set parameters.
PARAMETERS
RANGE
[DEFAULT]
IΔn (A)=
Threshold of the nominal residual current: when IΔ exceeds I∆n, the TRIP relay switches.
0,05 ÷ 7A
[0,05A]
ΔT=
Limiting non-actuating time. If you set it to "INST", the tripping mode becomes instantaneous.
0,06 ÷ 5sec
[0.060
S
]
T –
The
2
nd
relay is a second TRIP relay: it switches at the same time of TRIP relay (the trip coil must be
always
connected to TRIP relay).
A –
The
2
nd
relay is an alarm relay. It switches when set alarm threshold is exceeded.
T/ A
[A]
N.de. =
Trip relay is normally de-energized (N.De.) and it energizes when IΔ overcomes IΔn.
NE=
Trip relay is normally energized (N.E.) and it de-energizes when IΔ overcomes IΔn.
Warning:
the safety condition N.E, is applied
exclusively to the TRIP relay and not to second relay, even if it is set in TRIP condition. Setting the positive security (fail safe) excludes the
permanent verification of the T.C. circuit and its power.
N.De. - N.E.
[N.De.]
MAN/AUTO
: Reset mode: manual or automatic. After a trip for IΔ> IΔn, the written "SET" becomes "RESET" and will therefore allow the
RESET of the TRIP condition (only if IΔ <IΔn)
MAN- AUTO
[MAN]
◄
AL
: Threshold of Alarm (% di IΔn). When this threshold is exceeded, an alarm condition will be generated.
20% ÷ 80%
[50%]
<R
: Hysteresis: threshold in percentage value of IΔn.
30% ÷ 80%
[80%]
KCT

BA AL
= When “ON” the continuity, the connections and the power supply of T.C. are continuously monitored and an alarm will be
generated in case of malfunction.
