Step 5:
Disconnect P1 connector from the WEDGE and J02
connector from the engine ECM. Disconnect TR1
and TR2 from the harness. Using a multimeter,
measure continuity between P1-35 and J02-A1.
Using a multimeter, measure continuity between P1-
34 and J02-B1.
Using a multimeter, measure continuity between P1-
34 and P1-35.
Continuity should be shorted
between P1-35 and J02-A1
Continuity should be shorted
between P1-34 and J0-B1
Continuity should be open
between P1-34 and P1-35. If
not, check for defective splice
and or shorted pins in
connectors.
Step 6:
Disconnect any devices that are connected to the
J1939 CAN BUSS except the WEDGE and engine
ECM. Turn ignition switch to the “ON” position. Using
a multimeter, measure the voltage at P1-34 to
battery -.
Using a multimeter, measure the voltage at P1-35 to
battery -.
Voltage measured at P1-34
and P1-35 should be 2.5 VDC.
If not, replace engine ECM.
Step 7:
If steps 1 through 6 checkout OK, replace WEDGE.
