• Let the elements dry properly or dry them using a clean cloth before replacing
them in the unit.
Cleaning the outer surfaces
• Outer surfaces may be cleaned using a damp cloth.
Use a neutral detergent if needed.
• Dry the surfaces properly with a dry cloth after clean-
ing.
• It is advisable to clean the handles with a disinfectant.
Cleaning other parts
Dust, debris and other impurities will build up in time behindd the unit. Also clean
the floor underneath the unit regularly, at least once a year. Particularly the refriger-
ant circuit and other parts at the back of the unit will accumulate dust over time,
which must be removed to maintain a high level of safety.
• Before moving the unit and cleaning the rear components, the unit must be
shut down and disconnected from the power grid.
• You can remove loose dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner with an antistatic
mouthpiece attached, or using compressed air.
• Ingrained dirt may be wiped off the refrigerant circuit using a damp cloth.
Do
not damage the refrigerant circuit!
• Dry the cleaned parts carefully before reconnecting the unit to the power grid.
In case of a power failure
Should a power failure occur, it is advisable not to open the refrigerator or freezer
doors, so that the inside of the unit keeps cool for as long as possible. In case of a
prolonged power cut, place a few freezer blocks inside the refrigerator or move
the most perishable foodstuffs to a cooler along with some freezer blocks or to a
refrigerator in another house.
In case of a planned power cut of which prior notice has been given, please set
the temperature control to a higher setting a few hours before the scheduled
power cut.
If the power cut has lasted long enough for the frost and ice inside the unit to melt
and then refreeze after the power has been restored, the unit must be defrosted.
Defrosting the unit
Over time, condensation will form inside the refrigerator and freezer and will form
frost, and ultimately ice. This frost and ice layer decreases the efficiency of the unit,
and therefore the unit must be defrosted regularly. Defrost the freezer at the latest
when a 5 mm thick layer of ice and frost has formed.
If you do not have access to an earthed mains socket, or if the supply cord does
not reach the mains socket, contact a qualified electrician. Only a qualified electri-
cian may perform electrical installation work.
Balancing
There are two adjustable feet at the front edge of the unit. By
turning the feet clockwise or counter-clockwise you can bal-
ance the unit if it isn’t standing firmly.
6. Care and service
When caring for and servicing the unit, please pay special attention to safety
precautions regarding electrical appliances. Electrical components may not be
cleaned using any means that have not specifically been designed for the pur-
pose. The unit must be turned off and disconnected from the power grid before
servicing, moving or defrosting it.
Prior to cleaning, it is advisable to move all foodstuffs from the unit to a portable
cooler with one or more freezer blocks.
Cleaning internal surfaces
• The internal surfaces may be cleaned using
a soft cloth, water and a neutral detergent,
or a cleaning agent specifically designed for
cleaning refrigerators.
Note:
Appliances and accessories intended
for storing of food may not be cleaned using
agents that contain poisonous or otherwise
detrimental components.
• Dry the surfaces using a dry, clean cloth.
• Ingrained dirt can be removed using an alcohol-based cleaning agent.
• It is prudent to clean the unit regularly, preferrably once a month.
• the door seals may be cleaned using a clean cloth and soapy water. Dry the
seals thoroughly after cleaning. You can grease the seals lightly with vaseline to
prevent fracturing and cracking of the rubber.
• If mould accumulates inside the unit or in the seals, it must be removed using
an appropriate mould removal agent. Ask for more information about cleaning
agents and disinfectants at your local cleaning agent retailer.
• Keep the drainage tube clean. If the tube is blocked, condensated water will
pool on the bottom of the refrigerator.
Cleaning the removable elements
• Drawers, shelves and baskets may be cleaned by hand in warm, soapy water.
Do not clean the removable elements in a dishwasher.
