Erase
To quickly erase all recorded data from either internal or external memory, the BNX3’s setup menu
provides an erase function. If a memory card is not present in the memory card slot, the erase function
erases the BNX3’s internal recording memory. If a card is present, the external memory card is only
erased. To erase either internal or external memory, follow these steps:
1. Press the
SETUP

erase?

flashing prompting the user to press it to begin erasing.

4.When the recording memory is completely erased, the display shows
reading
, indicating the BNX3 is
reading the erased memory. The BNX3 returns to the preset screen where you can begin recording.
Using SmartMedia™ Memory Cards
There are many different formats used for memory cards depending on the electronic device they were last
used with. Fresh memory cards that have never been used are typically formatted in a manner that the
BNX3 can already use. If you have a card that has been used in other electronic devices, it may be necessary
for the BNX3 to format the card prior to using it. To use memory cards effectively, we recommend format-
ting/erasing any card you intend to use in the BNX3’s
Memory Card
slot. To properly format a card, please
follow the steps below:
Inserting Memory Card for the First Time
1. Insert the memory card with the contacts side facing down. The recorder’s time display counts back
from 100 while it is reading the card.
2. If the card is not formatted, when the card reading is complete, the BNX3’s display reads
mem err
indicating the card is either unformatted or using a format not recognized by the BNX3. The display
prompts you to
format?
the card. Proceed by pressing the flashing
record
button to format. The
card begins formatting and all data is erased. Once formatting is complete, the card is ready for
recording
If the BNX3’s main display returns to the preset screen after the memory card has been read without a
prompt to format, the memory card already has a valid format that the BNX3 can use. You may however
want to erase the card’s memory, (see the Erase section of this manual).
