Endpoint Security can be used with IP Endpoints that have been configured for SIP Standalone.
This will prevent them from being discovered/changed on the network using
TalkMaster FOCUS Admin
Console
unless the device is listed in the IP Endpoints tab with the correct password. Make sure to use
menu option
and save the configurations to a secure location so that they can
be restored if anything happens to the PC that was used to configure the IP Endpoints.
Automatic Level Control
Automatic Level Control
is a separately licensed feature of IP7 IP Endpoints that can be used to
automatically adjusts the volume level of IP Endpoints up or down one to two steps as the ambient noise
in an area changes.
An IP7 with a microphone is configured as an
ALC Detector
. The ALC Detector monitors the ambient
noise in an area and reports the normal level, the current level and the volume step change over the
network every 2.5 seconds. Please note that the ALC Detector should not be used for other audio
operations.
ALC Enabled
IP Endpoints listening on the same Port number for Multicast Address 224.0.23.59 receive
information from the detector and adjust their volume level immediately. Once an ALC Enabled IP
Endpoint begins to play audio, it will ignore any other volume level changes till it is finished playing the
current audio message.
Since Digital Acoustics IP Endpoints have 7 volume steps, the ALC Enabled IP Endpoints normal volume
level should be set to level 3, 4 or 5 so that it can be raised or lowered by 2 steps.
Configure an ALC Detector
In the Administration Console, select
the
IP Endpoints --> General --> Configuration
tab
Press the
FIND ALL
button
Select the IP Endpoint to be configured as an ALC Detector
Enter a Location Name
Assign a DHCP or Static IP Address
Assign a Server IP:Port
Select
the
IP Endpoints --> General --> Options 1
tab
Select
ALC Detector
from the drop down
Select the
Normal Ambient Noise Level
environment that closely matches the noise level that
the
ALC Detector
will be monitoring:
o
Quiet
- (about 60dB)
o
Mall
- (about 75dB)
o
Highway
- (about 105dB)
o
Jetway
- (about 135dB)
o
If the typical ambient noise level is different than any of the listed environments, the ambient
Noise Level can be automatically determined by measuring the current ambient noise level. See
