BorderNet™ 4000 SBC Installation and Deployment Guide

H.323.)
Virtual MAC
In an HA configuration, when Virtual MAC disabled; the new Active platform takes over the
ownership of Virtual IP addresses configured on the system. The system sends gratuitous
ARPs to update the L2 switch ARP cache, thus informing L2 switch to send future traffic for
Virtual IP addresses to the MAC addresses of the new Active BorderNet 4000 platform
In an HA configuration, when the Virtual MAC is enabled, it enables MAC address sharing
between the two platforms of the HA system. The Virtual MAC addresses, in addition to the
Virtual IP addresses are shared between two BorderNet 4000 platforms of an HA system.
In case of a failover, the new Active platform takes over the ownership of the Virtual MAC
addresses and all of the Virtual IP addresses configured on the system. The system sends
gratuitous ARPs to update L2 Switch’s MAC to port tables, thus establishing the Virtual MAC
addresses on the ports connected to the new Active BorderNet 4000 platform.
Deploying the BorderNet 4000 SBC
Guidelines
•
Deploy the system using a web based interface.
•
For HA deployments, the primary platform must be deployed first and before starting
the secondary platform deployment, the secondary platform must be connected to
the primary platform on the HA link. The primary platform must be up and running
while you deploy the secondary platform.
Procedure
The procedure below includes deployment for a standalone system and an HA system. The
first three steps are the same for either deployment.
1.
Power on the BorderNet 4000 SBC and it is ready to deploy from the following URL:
http://192.168.0.10/
192.168.0.10 is the factory default IP address and is configured on management
port eth0 and eth3.
If a message appears in your browser regarding the certificate, choose to continue.
2.
Connect the platform eth0 port on a network which can reach 192.168.0 subnet.
3.
Use a PC or laptop with a web browser that can reach 192.168.0.10 IP address to
start the deployment process.
Note: In case of an HA system deployment, connect one BorderNet 4000 SBC to the
192.168.0 subnet at a time. (Both BorderNet 4000 SBC’s have the same factory
default IP address.) You must deploy each BorderNet 4000 SBC before it can start
SBC functionality.
